Abstract

Agriculture, a vital commodity for many countries in Southeast Asian region, concerns itself with food safety and food security. Agricultural practices should ensure that food products are healthy for consumption and sustainable to the environment, while maintaining or even increasing the production quantities to provide for the growing population. The integration of smart farming technologies and organic farming allows the improvements of food safety and security at the same time. This work proposes the design of monitoring system for smart organic farming using IoT technology for the Sarawak state of Malaysia. The system architecture, hardware topology as well as the data management system are proposed and discussed. The proposed design has a potential to contribute to future research in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in organic farm settings.
