Abstract

This paper describes the design of a simulation program in MATLAB software for modeling vulcanization ovens in glove manufacturing. In particular, the program is able to predict the temperature profile in an oven based on oven dimensions, input power, airflow rate and material properties. The temperature profile is applied to calculate the amount of water evaporation which can be achieved. This enables the moisture content in the gloves exiting the oven to be estimated. The program serves as a tool for accurate modeling and prediction which will subsequently lead to better control of the vulcanization process.
