Using a simple model for electromachining, the direct problem of determining what surface is produced by a given tool is considered in two dimensions. The inverse problem of finding the tool needed to make a specified shape is discussed in both two and three dimensions. © 1985, by Academic Press Inc. (London) Ltd.
