Abstract

The main feature of an integrated building design system is data integration or data sharing by all design tools in the system. It is achieved by developing an integrated data model that combines different views of the building so that, through it, information can be exchanged in electronic form. This paper describes a Data Exchange System which provides the underlying support for data exchange and data maintenance in an integrated building design system utilising object-oriented database and ISO-STEP technologies.
