Abstract
This poster explores the ability to use interim assessments as a medium to enhance student learning engagement. The interim assessments are typically used to measure the student's ability to document their design process and communicate their ideas. Interim juries are critical to the students as they receive feedback during the middle of the semester, allowing them to reflect on their process and develop their final project.
In Architectural Design Studio 4, the teaching team presented a different format for the interim jury that focuses on supporting the students to (1) enhance their final submission, and (2) communicate their ideas with professional practice. That format is aligned with the theoretical framework of creating an engaging learning environment that requires (1) Contexed-based, (2) Authenticity, and (3) Relatability. This poster presents the process of planning and mapping the change of an interim assessment format to respond to the three aspects of an engaged learning environment.
