Abstract
The work has: a) set out the context for the use of a mathematical model predicting the product distribution of paraffin hydrocracking –this is adopted by a number of petrochemical industries (e.g. ENI, BP); b) opened a new way to treat different industrial problems, namely polymerisation; c) paved the way for a collaboration with a national and an international research institutes in the area of pyrolysis; d) led to funded collaboration with an international companies (NexTek, Sasol) in the area of recycling of wastes; e) led to a successful application to the Leverhulme Trust for an International network (Canada). The work was sponsored by a consortium of companies including Shell, ENI, BP, Albermarle.
