Abstract
There are two main tender evaluation methods currently in use in the Chinese construction industry, the lowest evaluated price method and multi-criteria evaluation method. The aim of this paper is to examine the key issues with regard to the application of these two methods in practice. A comparison is made through applying them to a single case study, thus highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. It provides an overview of the current practice of tender evaluation in China, which is beneficial for international contractors and consultants who may be interested in bidding for projects in this country.
