    Abstract

Aqueous solutions of cupric phthalate have been studied spectrophotometrically. From the absorptions of the solutions at various ionic strengths with cupric ions in excess the first complexing constant (K1 = 2·9 × 103) has been found and mean activity coefficients estimated at ionic strengths of 0·03 to 0·25. With phthalate ions in excess the second complexing constant (K2 = 23·6) has been determined. © 1958.
