Abstract
A model for an exothermic chemical reaction is considered, to find under what circumstances 'complete blow-up' may occur. If the problem blows up completely the model must become invalid and physically a thermal explosion or ignition is to be expected. In particular, relations between times of blow-up and of complete blow-up are investigated. © 1988 Oxford University Press.
