Abstract

A new, reduced representation for rigid objects based on infinite and closed surfaces and space curves is presented. This provides the necessary and sufficient characteristics for object identification and pose definition within an industrial context. Automatic derivation of the model from a standard CAD format is demonstrated, and we discuss the improved characteristics of the model in comparison with previous approaches. © 1992.
