Abstract
We study the scattering of sine-Gordon kinks in both the classical and quantum case using a collective coordinate approximation. Since the sine-Gordon model is an exactly integrable theory this allows us to examine the validity of this approximation, which is used extensively in the study of solitons in both classical and quantum field theory.
