Abstract

A compact coplanar waveguide (CPW) defected ground structure is investigated. Its frequency characteristics are modeled by full-wave EM simulations. Some applications are investigated, including two electronic bandgap (EBG) devices which are constructed based on a periodical structure of the proposed defected ground without and with loading of lumped-element capacitors. Also, a varactor-tuned defected ground structure of this type has been demonstrated. The theoretical, simulated, and experimental results are presented. © 2Wiley Periodicals. Inc.
