Abstract

An antenna having dual-differential and fully integrated feeding is presented. The multi-layer antenna consists of H-shaped slots, two stacked patches to improve bandwidth, and two differential power dividers connected within the system. Such an antenna can offer simple two-port feeding and high-isolation for each polarization state, making it useful for full-duplex communications. The antenna provides -10 dB impedance matching from about 2.2 to 2.5 GHz with isolation levels between its external ports in the range of 50 dB while the maximum realized gain is 7.8 dBi. The designed feeding arrangement does not require any additional cable connections or external couplers which are typically used in other dual-differential full-duplex systems. To the best knowledge of the authors, no similar multi-layer antenna configuration with integrated feeding has been reported previously.
