Abstract
The instrumentation plan for the ELT foresees the ArmazoNes high Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph (ANDES). All subsystems of the ANDES-project underwent internal subsystems- preliminary design reviews (ssPDR). The systems-level PDR is scheduled for mid 2026 concluding phase B. Even though the ANDES-spectrograph is designed for maximum intrinsic stability, calibration and thus a calibration unit (CU) is mandatory. To allow for installation at different places at the ELT (Coudé-room, intermediate Nasmyth-platform) the CU mirrors the spectrographs design with three independent units. The design of the individual CU is condensed by now to a high level of detail and ready for the next milestone, the systems PDR. Here, we show the managerial part of the CU, regarding team and timeline, the engineering design of one CU (RIZ) and outline the next steps in each element of the CU towards the Final Design Review and the following Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Testing (MAIT) in Europe.
