Abstract
The zero calibration of total power radiometers is examined as a filter design problem. A calibration filter is proposed which incorporates information from cold target calibration samples in such a way as to minimize the variance of the corrected signal in the presence of 1/f noise. The analysis is applicable also to modulated (Dicke switch) radiometers, but 1/f noise is usually less important in such cases. -Author
