Abstract
This study seeks to explore the interactions between extrinsic and intrinsic motivations of entrepreneurial behaviour. Motivation presents a broad area of research within entrepreneurship scholarship, and it is widely recognised that entrepreneurial action can be motivated by a variety of factors simultaneously. However, although it is widely accepted that multiple motivations for entrepreneurship can co-exist and incentivise an entrepreneur at any
one time, decidedly less research has examined the contingent relationships between these diverse motivations. Using a sample of Evangelical Christian for-profit entrepreneurs, this study investigates the contingent relationship between the religious and economic drivers of their entrepreneurial behaviour. Findings demonstrate extrinsic and intrinsic entrepreneurial motivations have an interdependent relationship.
