Abstract
Anthranilonitriles react with s-triazine or formamide to give 4-aminoquinazolines. In the presence of secondary alkylamines the intermediate aminomethinylated amines formed with s-triazine can be trapped, and aryldialkylformamidines result. The scope of this formamidine synthesis has been investigated.
