Abstract
“Ageing in Place: Narratives and Memories in the United Kingdom and Brazil” is a bilingual volume that explores the lived experiences of ageing through personal narratives and collective memory. Drawing on interdisciplinary approaches from anthropology, sociology, and gerontology, the book presents a comparative perspective on how older adults in both the UK and Brazil navigate the concept of "aging in place"—remaining in their homes and communities as they grow older. Through rich, first-person accounts and contextual analysis, the work highlights the cultural, social, and emotional dimensions of aging, revealing both shared challenges and distinct local realities. By bridging two diverse national contexts, this bilingual publication invites readers into a dialogue about identity, belonging, and resilience in later life.
