Abstract

Computer-Aided Production Management (CAPM) and advanced manufacturing techniques are widely used in mass production and batch production manufacturing industries. A nation-wide questionnaire survey was conducted in order to examine the current usage and potential developments in the UK. clothing and knitwear industries. The aim of the survey was to identify the special requirements of this sector and areas of further application. Comparisons of clothing and knitwear industries were made since both use similar batch production techniques. This paper is based on the findings of a questionnaire survey. It shows the potential development of CAPM systems in material control, production planning, order scheduling and production control.
