Abstract

This paper presents a novel approach for planning the assembly of components using the Octree decomposition technique where a CAD model is turned into cubes of different sizes and materials. The proposed system is capable of generating assembly plans for automatic and manual assembly. The functionality and performance of the system is proved with the construction of a test component. © 2007 IEEE.
