Abstract

We discuss modifications of the kinetic equation for the density matrix of molecular quantum particles. The changes include non-local effects which follow from the assumption of the collapse of wave functions during velocity changing collisions. We present an experimental proposal which represents a test of the new model. A nonlinear medium response caused by action of strong laser light can give new insight into the description of gas kinetics with the quantum theory. © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
