Abstract

This work presents a novel tapering procedure for the dielectric-inset periodic leaky-wave antenna (DIPLWA). The proposed configuration allows to easily taper the aperture illumination to reduce the sidelobes level. This is the main advantage with respect to the conventional DIPLWA, which was proposed a decade ago for millimeter waveband applications. The working mechanism of the novel tapering procedure will be described in this paper.
