Abstract

The three-dimensional assessment of soft tissue structures like intervertebral discs is often very challenging, since most structures have a complex shape. Soft tissue exposed to mechanical loads leads therefore to a complex deformation mapping. This study introduces a new laser based scanning method to obtain 3-d soft tissue deformation and surface strains on intervertebral discs.
