Abstract
A theoretical model of fire in a tunnel, FIRE-SPRINT A2, is presented which relates geometrical and thermo-physical conditions to instability within the system. Such instability may be associated with fire spread from one item to another within the tunnel. As an illustration, a case involving a heavy goods vehicle within the Channel Tunnel is considered.
