Abstract

A compact multiband design of a printed microstrip patch antenna with two rectangular U-shaped parasitic elements is introduced in this paper. The rectangular U-shaped parasitic elements were used for the 2nd and 3nd mode excitation, multi-band resonance and control of the resonance frequencies. The simulation and measurement results showed that the antenna resonates at the frequencies of 2:6 GHz, 6.0 GHz, and 8.5 GHz. The antenna has an overall area of 40.0 × 30.0 mm2.
