Abstract

This paper presents the results of an investigation into a compact circularly polarized (CP) antenna for operation at 400MHz. The antenna consists of an array of four folded shorted patch (S-P) elements constructed using multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) technology. The overall dimensions of the antenna are 0.2 lambda(o) X 0.2 lambda(o) X 0.05 lambda(o). The design may be applicable for CP antenna systems on micro-satellites where size is critical.
