Abstract

The appearance of Muslim minorities in the countries of Western Europe is the result of constant and varying intensity of immigration. Their origin is exogenous, some of them are already second and even third generation residents. However, they all know and remember their "motherland", with which they enter into interesting emotional relationships. To a large extent, the nature of ties and especially the attitude to the "motherland" influence the degree of integration of the new Europeans. It is not uncommon for problematic integration processes to lead to mistrust of the state, accumulation of internal anger, and unleashing of discontent, escalating into violence, even deliberate acts of terrorism.

The book is aimed at a wide readership, as it lifts the veil around the activities of numerous state institutions and societal factors in Europe related to the complex matter of migration, minority integration, human rights and religious extremism. This analysis is of utmost importance for the perception and shaping of the future of the continent, and in particular of the European Union.

A similar analysis is necessary for Bulgaria as a corridor country for the mass immigration of exogenous Muslims. A number of new statistics show that our country is increasingly becoming the final destination of the Muslim immigration flow. This trend will intensify after the revolutions in the Arab countries since the beginning of the year.
