Biography

Dr Wenjie Wu is an Associate Professor at the Heriot-Watt University, and formerly a Lecturer in the Urban Studies, University of Glasgow. He remains as a research affiliate at the Spatial Economics Research Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science, and a co-investigator of the ESRC-funded Urban Big Data Center (Glasgow). He is a board member of the review committee of Asia-Pacific Network for Housing Research (2016). His research includes socio-spatial implications of infrastructure investment and urban development, with a focus on East Asia (China). His work has been published in journals such as Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Regional Science, Land Use Policy, Urban Studies, Annals of the Association of American Geographers, and among others. Apart from his academic works, he has spent time on providing advice to China, South Africa through the World Bank, China Development Bank and other agencies. He has been awarded as the World Social Science Fellow (Big data in urban contexts) by the International Social Science Council in 2015.

Dr Wu welcomes applications from prospective PhD students in the fields of big data, urban geography, real estate, local and regional development.
