Biography

Dr. Wei Lin Teoh is an Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM). She received her PhD in Applied Statistics in 2013 from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

She was one of the five recipients of MIMOS Prestigious Award 2013. The Award represents MIMOS’ highest recognition of the contributions of the academia to the nation’s innovation. Her research interest is in statistical process control and statistical quality control. She has authored or co-authored more than 80 papers in reputable peer-reviewed international journals and proceedings of international conferences, including first quartile (Q1) journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database.

She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, which is a journal published by Taylor & Francis, and indexed in the WoS (Q3) and SCOPUS (Q2) databases. She also has reviewed numerous journal articles indexed in the WoS database, to name a few, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, International Journal of Production Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Quality and Reliability Engineering International, etc. Her active research collaborators in her research network consist of 20 researchers from Malaysia, French, United Kingdom, Italy, China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Furthermore, as the Principal Investigator (PI) or co-researcher, she is / was conducting numerous external and internal grants about new control charting methods and their applications in the manufacturing industries.

Moreover, she serves as the Associate Director of Research for the School of Mathematical and Computer Science at HWUM. She also holds the role of a visiting researcher and senior member of the International Chair in Data Science & Explainable Artificial Intelligence at the International Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, situated at Dong A University in Danang, Vietnam.

Research interests

My research focuses on advancing methodologies in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) to improve process monitoring, enhance quality assurance, and drive operational efficiency. A key aspect of my work is optimising new control charts and designing innovative control charting methods to address contemporary challenges such as multivariate data, non-normal distributions, and small sample sizes.

By integrating modern analytical tools, I aim to create robust and adaptable frameworks that meet the evolving demands of industries. My ultimate goal is to bridge traditional SPC and SQC approaches with emerging technologies to foster innovation and reliability in quality management systems across diverse sectors.
