Dr. Tracie Lea Scott is an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai.

 

She teaches undergraduate law and postgraduate courses for International Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, International Business Management and Accountancy as she is a qualified lawyer with a PhD in Law.  She is Programme Director for MSc Business Strategy, Leadership and Change, MSc International Business Management with Finance, and MSc International Business Management with Human Resource Management.

 

Dr. Scott holds a BA (English Major, History minor), LLB, and LLM from the University of Alberta, Canada.  She received her PhD (Law) at Birkbeck College, University of London in 2010.  She is a non-practicing member of the Law Society of Alberta (Canada), and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

 

Dr. Scott’s research interests include property and constitutional law, commercial law in a comparative context, human rights, social justice, and Indigenous rights. Her book, Postcolonial Sovereignty: The Nisga’a Final Agreement published in 2012 is considered to be an authoritative source on modern First Nation’s comprenensive treaties in Canada.  Her work in human rights has attracted international attention, participating in several international conferences as a keynote speaker.

 

In her 20 year long career, she has worked the interdisciplinary academic associations, such as the British Association for Canadian Studies.  She is currently the Co-Editor of the British Journal of Canadian Studies, and continues to build networks for international, interdisciplinary scholarship.
