Biography

Dr. Jessica Sze Yin Ho is the Head of Department for Marketing and Operations at Edinburgh Business School (EBS), School of Social Science (SoSS) at the Malaysia campus. She joined HWUM in 2020 and has held key positions in the school, including Associate Director of Learning and Teaching for SoSS and Programme Director for MA(Hons) Marketing at the Malaysia campus. Dr. Ho brings over 20 years of teaching and research expertise. She received Malaysia’s National Outstanding Educator Award in 2022 for her remarkable contributions. She serves on external examining and national accreditation panels for institutions, both locally and internationally. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), she also regularly mentors colleagues pursuing the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning and fellowship applications with AdvanceHE. 

Prior to joining the academia, Dr. Ho gained extensive experience in sales and marketing, working with multinational organizations and serving clients across Japan, Europe, and Asia. Driven by a passion for bridging the gap between industry and academia, she actively engages in government and industry-funded research, with a focus on marketing and talent management, fostering meaningful connections between education and the business world.

Her research interests include areas in Digital Marketing, Online Consumers Behaviour & Sustainable Consumption Behaviour in emerging markets. She also actively participates in renowned world ranked marketing conferences, i.e. American Marketing Association (AMA) Conference, European Marketing Association Conference (EMAC), Australia and New Zealand Marketing Association Conference (ANZMAC), as well as Global Marketing Conference (GMC). She has received several Best Paper Awards and Excellent Constructive Reviewer Awards internationally.

Outside of work, she is passionate about giving back to the community through charitable and educational initiatives. In her free time, she finds joy in cooking for family and friends and has a deep passion for traveling, drawn to the rich stories that different cultures tell.

Research interests

Research interests: livestream marketing, digital marketing, social media marketing (tiktok/facebook), e-commerce, technology adoption, service quality delivery, sustainable consumption, green consumption/behaviour, and quality in higher education. 

Area of expertise:  digital marketing, social media marketing, online consumer behaviour, service quality, sustainable consumption, and higher education quality. 

Research methods expertise: quantitative methods, qualitative methods, focus groups, interviews, and surveys.
