Research interests
Dr Syed Gowhar is a theorist and practitioner specialising in pictogram design. His work examines the relationship between pictograms and the representation of abstract concepts. He is the creator of PCSoRT: Pictogram Communication System of Religious Tolerance—a digital pictogram communication system that serves as a tool to promote religious tolerance on social networking sites.
He enjoys conceptual and connective thinking. With more than eighteen years of experience, Syed has worked with leading design studios and branding agencies in the UK, India, and the MENA region. His skill set is diverse and comprehensive, encompassing everything from design strategy to execution and curation.
He has been sharing his industry expertise with design enthusiasts using diverse teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, workshops, and demonstrations. His courses cover various topics, including visual communication, branding, motion graphics, advertising, design thinking, UI/UX design, and data visualisation.
