Dr. Shawgi Mounis is an Assistant Professor in Robotics Engineering, specializing in Mechatronic Engineering interdisciplinary teaching and research. His instructional portfolio includes Robotic courses such as Robotic Group Project, System Project, and Image Processing; Automotive courses including Automotive Technology 1 and 2; and Mechanical courses covering Mechanics, Industrial Design, and Design and Manufacture. Dr. Mounis teaches across multiple program levels, delivering courses to undergraduate students from Year 1 through Year 4, as well as to master's students.
His research interests include Mechatronic, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, robot-aided neurorehabilitation, Signal Processing and Control Systems. His PHD research focuses on robotic-rehabilitation therapy (AAN). He has published papers in some reputable high impact journals (IEEE Access, Measurement & Control and Applied Sciences). He has received several honors including the recipient of the best student award for Doctor of Philosophy, in the 36th IIUM convocation ceremony for the year 2021. Also, he won 1st place a Gold Award by the Kaliyah of engineering KERICE-2019. He is member of IEEE. His current research is multi-disciplinary fields of engineering that includes Mechatronic and Robotic, Machine Learning, Navigation, detection and perception AI, and active vision in robotics, Robotic-rehabilitation therapy.
