Biography

Career Background

I joined Heriot-Watt University in 2022 as an Assistant Professor in Strategy and Enterprise. Prior to this I recieved my PhD in Management from the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow in 2022. I have worked at the universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Queen Mary University London.

My work focuses on entrepreneurship, with a particular focus examining entrepreneurship as a participatory, contextually embedded process. My doctoral work explored the socio-religious context of entrepreneruial behaviour, examining the full spectrum of entrepreneurs from starting to scaled businesses. This work was grounded in institutional theory, investigating how such factors influence entrepreneurial strategies and behaviour. Byond my doctoral studies I have been involved in a number of research projects exploring how entreprenerus mobilise place, community, and networks to create innovative and sustainble ventures, particularly in rural contexts.

Current Roles and Responsibilities

Alongside my research on entrepreneurship, I currently teach two postgraduate courses - Strategic Change (C11SH) and Entrepreneruship and Venturing (C11EV); and an undergraduate course - Strategic Management (C19BU). I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.

I am the program director for C1BA BBA Bachelor of Business Administration.

I serve as a member of the School of Social Science Ethics Commitee.

I am a member of the British Academy of Management (Entrepreneurship); Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (Rural Entrepreneruship); and regularly attend the Qualitative Research Methods conference.
