Research interests

Seda Zirek is a researcher, lecturer, and designer specialising in co-creative digital design tools, digital fabrication, and new ways of modelling and simulating using machine learning and genetic algorithms. She studied architecture at Columbia University (MSc) in New York and at the Bartlett School of Architecture (PhD) at UCL in London. She previously worked as a computational advisor and senior designer for Rafael Vinoly Architects and Zaha Hadid Architects. In 2014, she founded SZD, an architecture studio focusing on residential projects and product design in London. She has taught architecture at various institutions, including Yale University, the Bartlett, and Columbia University. Currently, Seda is an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University and an external thesis supervisor for the Bio-Integrated Design MArch/MSc program at the Bartlett, UCL. She is also a PhD supervisor at London South Bank University.
