Personal profile

Biography

I am an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Sustainable Built Environment, Heriot Watt University. My research interests and expertise are primarily in building performance modelling, carbon reporting, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), shaped by years of research in academia and industry. I am keen to collaborate on projects involving building simulation, low-carbon innovations, construction management, the circular economy, and the integration of computer and data science within these domains.

Before my current role, I worked as a Building Scientist at arbnco Ltd for over 4.5 years, where I designed and contributed to the development of software solutions for energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability in buildings. I also led the team in creating new technologies for evaluating cost-effective energy conservation measures.

My PhD research focused on the impact of BREEAM, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and Soft Landings on the lifecycle performance of commercial buildings. Using LCA, I assessed the environmental impacts of case-study projects on the HWU campus. I am a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) and have several years of experience as a Senior Sustainability Consultant, leading projects in building sustainability certification, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and dynamic thermal simulation.
