Biography

I am a Lyell Research Fellow with over 10 years’ experience of research and environmental investigation in academia and industry. My research focuses on understanding the key sources, sinks and feedbacks of organic matter at the interface of carbon pools along the land-ocean-atmosphere continuum in modern environments. My approach is to integrate the disciplines of geochemistry, hydrology and microbiology and develop new methodologies using novel and existing technologies to provide unique insights on:

  • Mobilization and reactivity of carbon and nutrients from terrestrial into aquatic zones
  • Organic matter source and controls of air-water gas exchange
  • Natural variability and extremes of climate on biogeochemical cycles
  • Coupled human-natural systems in tropical rainforests and coastal zones
