Research interests

Qi’s research interests are in the areas of critical accounting, social accounting, international accounting (especially with a focus upon Eastern Asian world), and the accounting profession in the context of globalisation.

Qi's research is influenced by feminist poststructuralist theory and focuses on the dynamic relation between women and the accounting profession in China and the changing role of women in the accounting profession. 

Research Grants and Projects

My current research projects include an ICAS-funded study exploring the impact of health and wellbeing on the recruitment, progression, and retention of women professional accountants in the UK, with a particular focus on menstruation, menopause, and miscarriage (the 3Ms). This project is supported by a £15,000 grant from ICAS and conducted in collaboration with Dr Eleni Chatzivgeri (University of Edinburgh), Prof Louise Crawford (Newcastle University), and Prof Rania Kamla (University of Edinburgh).
