Research interests

I am a sport and social psychologist examining the social identity approach (social identity theory and self-categorisation theory) to sport, exercise, and health. My research has underpinned income generation, course development, teaching, consultancy, and public engagement activities. I am passionate about mission-focussed research and scholarship to have real impact.

Biography

My academic qualifications include a BSc, PGCE, and PhD from The University of Exeter, UK. I am a Chartered Psychologist with The British Psychological Society, a Registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of The British Psychological Society, and former Editor-in-Chief of Psychology of Sport and Exercise and International Review of Sport and Exercise Psychology. I am Head of Accountancy, Economics and Finance in Edinburgh Business School.
