Personal profile


Norin Arshed joined the Department of Business Management in March 2013 as an Academic Fellow. She was previously a post-doctoral researcher at Strathclyde University where she also gained her PhD in 2012. Norin is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Management and a Royal Society of Arts Fellow. Furthermore, Norin has prior industry experience in working with both the public and private sectors as a senior economist and researcher.

Research interests

Norin’s research focusses on enterprise policy, entrepreneurship, SMEs and policy-making. Institutional theory is the theoretical lens used to frame her work both at the macro and micro-levels. She is involved with a number of stakeholders in undertaking her research: UK government departments, numerous prominent think thanks in London; Rio de Janeiro University, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Japan); Industry Canada and many others. Further, to this she has developed research interests in festival research (actors and process) and technology roadmapping.

Norin is the course leader for the following undergraduate courses:

  • Enterprise and Its Business Environment
  • Enterprise: Issues and Concepts

 Both courses also run in the Malaysia and Dubai campuses.


Norin is the Postgraduate Director for the following progammes in the Leader and Organisational Performance suite:

  • MSc Business Strategy, Leadership and Change
  • MSc Lean Six Sigma for Operational Excellence
  • MSc Managing Business Performance
  • MSc Operations Management
  • MSc Strategic Project Management

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the persons scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
