Biography

Muhammad Majid Hussain is an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University within the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Muhammad Majid Hussian received a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2005), MSc in Electrical Engineering (2009) from Pakistan, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering (2018) from Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow. His PhD research was on Mechanisms of salt deposition and surface flashover on outdoor insulators in the vicinity of shoreline. He has more than 50 publications and is a reviewer for many leading journal publications. He is a Chartered Engineer at The Institution of Engineering & Technology, UK. He is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy, Advance HE, UK.

Research interests

Muhammad Majid Hussain's research interests are smart grid, power system analysis, grid integration, energy management, cyber-physical security of power networks, home energy management systems, EVs, and online condition monitoring of developing power grids, including insulation fault monitoring and diagnostics in power system components. He has completed two research projects as Principle Investigator (PI) at the University of South Wales, UK, with USW Partnership & Engagement Programme funding.
