Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in the cultural evolution of culture. An area I have worked in is language evolution. I investigate the contribution of social and cultural processes (transmission, communication) on the emergence of linguistic structure. I use transmission chain experiments and computer simulations.  I am also interested in cultural-evolutionary explanations of other human communication systems, for instance the system used by Argentine tango dancers, and of other cultural domains, such as technology or art.
