Professor Mercedes Sheen joined Heriot Watt in August 2019 and is the Head of the Psychology Department on the Dubai campus. Mercedes received her PhD at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch New Zealand on false memories where she coined a new type of memory error “disputed memories” which resulted from many arguments about her shared past with her identical twin sister! Her main research interests now lie in the field of Social Cognition and Cross Cultural Psychology - and has published widely on the effect of the hijab on human perception in Muslim societies.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
