Maryam Sholevar has both academic and business experience in a broad range of topics in the realm of banking and finance. She obtained her PhD from SOAS, University London, for which she was awarded AXA Scholarship. She proposed a new definition for financial literacy (FL), empirically proved by pristine data directly collected by her fieldwork funded by a £1 million Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) project. Prior to that, she worked as a lecturer at Jimma University and received several awards of appreciation for her novel teaching methods. She served as an Editor of Brief Encounters, published by the Consortium for Humanities and the Arts Southeast England (CHASE).
