Personal profile

Research interests

My academic and industrial background (with 11 years of experience and a newly formed lab) underscores my strengths and growing leadership in the development, implementation, and analytical validation of algorithms for calculating biometrics using wearable technology.

Both my industrial PhD (competitively funded by Marie Curie FP7 Actions) and my Research Associate position with the leading team of a €50-million project on digital mobility (Mobilise-D, https://mobilise-d.eu/) focused on developing signal-processing-based algorithms to study neurological conditions. In 2023, I was top-ranked at University College Dublin for a postdoctoral fellowship (funded by European Horizon 2020) to calculate digital biomarkers for Parkinson’s Disease. However, I declined this opportunity to begin a career as an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University (HWU), where I currently supervise two (about to start a third one) PhD students in similar topics and secured a £30,000 start-up research package.
