Biography
Dr Manjula Nair has been associated with Heriot-Watt University since 2019, where she teaches Chemistry and Chemical Engineering courses. She serves as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator for the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) at the Dubai campus, and is also the Year 1 and Year 2 Coordinator, supporting students during their transition into university life.
With over two decades of academic experience, Dr Nair has held faculty positions at the University of Mumbai and at a US-affiliated university in Dubai. Her work reflects a strong commitment to inclusive education, student success, and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Research interests
Her areas of research include-
Sea and brackish water desalination
Use of renewable energy and energy recovery devices in RO and MSF processes
Environmental impact of desalination
Application of nanomaterials in water treatment
Use of Metal Organic Framework membranes for water remediation
Deep Eutectic solvents
