My research area is human‐computer interaction (HCI) – that is, the study and subsequent improvement of human interaction with technology and the development and evaluation of novel interactive technologies, particularly Robots. My research has recently been focused on Human Robot Interaction and usable security see my groups project page for more information (https://ittgroup.org/projects).

I have a strong track record over 15 years in research management and leadership at a senior level in two countries (Austria and UK). I am currently the Director of the Interactive and Trustworthy Technologies (ITT) Group. I have been successful in being awarded funding of over £7M as a Principal Investigator and over £16m as a co-investigator. I have been funded by funders from prestigious research councils (MRC/EPSRC, FFG), international companies (Orange, Telecom Austria, Alcatel-Lucent, Siemens, Microsoft), charities (Heritage Lottery Fund, CHSS, Paths to Health, Calman), and Governments (local, national and EU). I have over 100 peer reviewed high level publications, see google scholar link.
