Biography

Koorosh is a researcher working at the intersection of urban environments, green infrastructure, and health and wellbeing. He completed his PhD in Urban Studies at Heriot-Watt University and is currently a Research Associate on the EPSRC-funded BuildWell project, focusing on sustainable housing and the role of urban environments in supporting health and equity.

His research explores how environmental conditions shape everyday experiences and wellbeing, with a particular interest in interdisciplinary approaches that connect research with policy and practice. His work has been published in journals including Health & Place and Urban Forestry & Urban Greening.

Alongside his research, Koorosh has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He currently contributes as an MSc tutor at the University of Edinburgh, supporting teaching in landscape and wellbeing, research methods, and dissertation supervision.

He is particularly interested in collaborative and cross-sector research that advances healthier, more sustainable, and inclusive urban environments.

He explores how environmental conditions influence everyday experiences, social outcomes, and wellbeing, with an emphasis on generating insights that are relevant to policy and practice.

His research interests include sustainable housing, nature-based solutions, urban health, and the role of green infrastructure in supporting resilient and inclusive environments.

Research Grants and Projects

Koorosh is currently working as a Research Associate on the BuildWell Network: Reimagining Future Housing Developments for Health and Sustainability, an EPSRC-funded project led by Heriot-Watt University in collaboration with the University of York and Northumbria University. The project brings together researchers, practitioners, and industry partners to explore how green infrastructure and housing design can support health, wellbeing, water management, and biodiversity.

His role involves supporting the coordination of the research network, contributing to interdisciplinary research activities, and developing outputs including literature reviews, gap analyses, policy briefs, and academic publications. The project also incorporates participatory and place-based approaches, including workshops and site-based engagement.
