Research interests

My research focuses on three-dimensional imaging of multiphase flow in permeable media using both in-house and synchrotron X-ray micro-CT, with applications to subsurface hydrogen storage, geological sequestration of CO2, remediation of contaminated soils and oil recovery from reservoirs.

Current projects

(i) 3D imaging of hydrogen storage in reservoir rocks

(ii) Pore-scale dynamics of immiscible fluid displacement in porous media using ultrafast synchrotron X-ray micro-tomography

(iii) Effect of wettability on multiphase flow in porous media

(iv) Multi-scale characterisation of carbonate rocks (including dissolution during supercritical CO2-saturated brine injection): FIBSEM, Confocal and X-ray micro-tomographic imaging

Other curiosity-driven projects

(i) Architectural design of smart ventilation and drainage systems in termite nests.

(ii) Three-dimensional microstructure of lignocellulosic biomass.
