Research interests
Josh's research focusses on using active and passive marine acoustics to study the distributions fish and marine mammals and to better understand factors which drive these distributions. His recent work has focussed on predator-prey spatial interactions and the influence of man-made marine structures. He has previously worked on developing methodologies for using active and passive acoustic simultaneously, and using them to study the distributions of vocalising cetaceans and their fish prey concurrently. More recently, his work has been focussed on understanding the impacts man-made marine structures have on the distributions of fish, in the context of decommissioning oil and gas platforms (where a significant amount of infrastructure is due to be removed) and the expansion of offshore wind (where infrastructure is being installed).
